In many ways, this is like an unofficial spinoff of the Turok series. This game created the format for the Bond games that would follow on the PS2/GCN/XboX systems, and that is fascinating.

This makes for an excellent multiplayer experience with a few buddies. The multiplayer has plenty of levels and allows for bots this time. The sound is excellent, though lacking the classic Bond theme, and the gameplay is diverse and challenging. The graphics are detailed, and the frame rate is smooth. It also did a better job following the source material than GoldenEye as most major scenes from the movie are recreated in the 14 levels present. This Bond game has cutscenes and voice acting. So, is this the next GoldenEye? Not really, but hey it isn't bad. There's older titles and late releases in our overview. We tried out every First Person Shooter we could get our hands on, good or bad. The PS1, and to a lesser extent, the Saturn, had some games in the genre, but the N64 by far had the most, even with its small library. As far as home consoles go, it was the first system to really house a large selection of FPS games. While the FPS genre got its start on early '90s MS-DOS based computers, the genre really hit its stride on the N64. But, all great successes start somewhere. Next to sports games, the FPS has so far been the single most successful, most saturated and most popular genre in the industry. The only way for it to be fixed is for ION Storm to release a new version of the map that uses a version of the texture that is broken into sections. If one thing could be said about today's games, it's that the First Person Shooter reigns supreme.

This is because of its dimensions (704x128) which would have to be expanded to a dimension that the Daikatana engine cannot apparently handle (1024x128) to have dimensions that are a power of 2. The bad texture in E2CTF2 cannot be fixed by just replacing it. Textures for the following maps are fixed in this patch: Note that the original (unresized) version of each texture is included as a file in the same name that ends with 'a', so the original textures will not be lost by applying this patch. If you extract the textures from the pak file for map editing or install the official map pack after applying this patch, you will need to unzip it again. Unzip this to your Daikatana/data folder. This patch fixes all but one of the missing texture errors (in E2CTF2) created by the 1.2 version's inability to load textures whose dimensions are a power of 2.
